One of the biggest improvements to the handling of our TL1000R racebike was the addition of an ETI Fuel Cel

Looking for a handling improvement on our TL1000R racebike – which is admittedly a heavy bike – we contacted John at Erospace Technology Inc. to find out about a Kevlar/epoxy ETI Fuel Cel. John was very helpful and friendly, and answered all our questions to our complete satisfaction. Since we would be racing the TLR, John recommended that we get their anti-slosh foam installed inside the tank; you'll read later that it was a very good thing we took his recommendation. When the ETI Fuel Cel arrived, we immediately took note of the excellent construction and finish. It came with ETI's quick-turn billet fuel cap.

After painting and installing the ETI Fuel Cel on the TLR, a street ride was in order to do some mental comparisons of how the TLR now rode. Even with a full tank of fuel, the difference in handling between the heavy stock fuel tank and the lightweight ETI Fuel Cel was nothing short of astounding. It was like riding another bike... almost like a lightweight 600... as the big twin could be flicked into corners SO MUCH more easily than before. The ETI Fuel Cel for the TLR weighs nearly 8lb less than the stock tank, though when riding it feels like a 20lb difference.

Shortly thereafter the TLR was taken to the track, and this was where we expected the improvements to be most noticeable. In addition to the much lighter weight (on top) and having quicker turn-in, the effect of the anti-slosh foam was simply amazing. With the unbaffled stock tank the fuel would slosh side-to-side noticeably on corner turn-in & exit, especially at partial fuel loads (e.g. between ¾ and ¼ full); this necessitated changes to riding style since the effect would continually change as fuel was used up. With the anti-slosh foam there was no detectable fuel sloshing from full to empty, eliminating another variable that would otherwise have to be compensated by riding style.

All-in-all we were quickly convinced that the investment in an ETI Fuel Cel was well justified, as it has a huge positive effect on the handling of the TLR. Design and construction quality are top notch, and their warranty is second to none. We can easily recommend an ETI Fuel Cel to anyone looking for a handling advantage.
